ASYLUMAMICORUM

FAQ

Answers to the things we get asked most. If yours is not here, call us — you get us, not a switchboard.

_The House

Where is Asylum Amicorum?

At Via XXIV Maggio 15, in the old town of Gagliano del Capo (LE), at the very tip of Salento. Gagliano-Leuca station is 1.7 km away; on request we arrange an airport shuttle.

How old is the building?

It dates from 1555. It began as a refuge for pilgrims on the via Francigena heading to Santa Maria di Leuca and is probably the oldest building in the town. Its name has been carved into the entrance stone for over five hundred years.

Is there parking?

Yes, and it is free. We are in the old town: cars are left in the surrounding streets, near the church, a few minutes' walk from the door.

_The Rooms

How many rooms are there?

Five: Gelsomino (junior suite), Lillà (triple), Lavanda, Calendula and Verbena (doubles). Together they sleep up to 11 guests.

Do all the rooms have a private bathroom?

Yes, each has its own. In the room you will find a minibar, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi; in the bathroom, toiletries, towels and a hairdryer.

What are the check-in and check-out times?

Check-in is between 15:00 and 21:00, check-out between 09:00 and 10:00. If you are arriving later, tell us — we will wait up.

_Breakfast

Is breakfast included?

Yes, always, in every room and at every time of year. It is homemade and it changes from one day to the next.

Is there a restaurant?

No. We are a bed & breakfast: we serve breakfast, and that is it. For lunch and dinner there are village trattorie, pizzerie and bars two or three hundred metres from here.

_Rates and booking

How do we book?

Through the form on this site, by writing to gestione@asylum-amicorum.it, or by phone on +39 0833 548382. Call us and you get 10% off the rate straight away.

Are the rates fixed?

No, they are seasonal: from €80 a night in low season up to the middle days of August. Breakfast is always included in the room rate.

Can we come with children?

Yes, children of all ages are welcome. Up to age 2 the extra bed is free; a cot is €10 per child, per night. From age 10 the adult rate applies.

_The Quiet

Is there a spa or a pool?

No, and we would rather say so up front. What we offer is quiet, two large terraces, a shared sitting room and a homemade breakfast.

Can we bring our dog?

Write to us before booking and we will talk it through — we would rather answer case by case than give you a generic rule.

_Salento

How far is the sea?

Marina di Leuca is about 6 km away, Felloniche about 7. The Ciolo, with its clear water, is the first place we send people. The Grotta Zinzulusa is roughly 25 km.

What languages do you speak?

Italian. We are happy to get by in English too, and so far none of our guests from abroad has got lost on the way.
